I was really excited to go here as I had never been but had only heard wonderful things about this place. My sister and I went later in the day around 2 and I think that was our first mistake. They only stay open till 3 p.m. so the food that we got was sort of like the leftovers from the lunch rush. The bread was hard when it arrived at the table. My sister has been there many times before and was so disappointed because she said it's always so warm and soft and fresh. All of the dishes that we tried were wonderful. With the exception of my donor wrap. The meat tasted like it had been reheated. You know that taste that day old meat gets or when you reheat it it has sort of an off taste. Also I think this was because it was right before closing. The coffee that we had was incredible! I was very dissatisfied with the server that we had. She was very distracted and didn't seem interested in getting us any drinks or food in a timely matter. She didn't even come over to our table for about 10 minutes after we were seated. We ended up to her having to get a different waitress to get us to go boxes and our check since our original waitress had disappeared. I am definitely going to come back and give it another try. I loved the smells and the ambience and the decorations. It was very cozy and comfortable. I look forward to coming back and having a better experience just because I think it's worth it. The flavors of the food and the variety it's so nice to have in the Upper Valley.
Food was delicious, authentic and a very special gem to have in this area. Service was ALSO eXcellent!! We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant AND we will make the trip from St. J to W.R. a regular event in our upcoming weeks!! Thanks!
Stopped in for lunch. Roughly 15-20 minutes after we ordered, my soda arrived at the table ("I don't know why this didn't make its way to your table"). About a half hour after that, our food arrived. We only ordered a sandwich and a side salad ("We do all the slips in the order they are submitted and we had a large rush. The wait was going to be 30 minutes. I don't know if that was explained to you.").
I went to this restaurant just because it was very close to my hotel and it was convenient. It was a Saturday night and i believe this restaurant is the busiest one in downtown. All waiters were very friendly yet polite. Food was good too!
The manager offered a number of concessions to make up for the delay. We asked for (and received) a discount on the food.
The food was good, but we will probably find another restaurant when we are travelling in the area.
Breakfast items looked good, though I didn’t try any.
When the bill arrived, we had to hunt down the waitress to get her to run the credit card. When it arrived back at the table, it was for another table's bill ("Someone left the wrong open.").
Very nice ambiance, but the Turkish coffee just tasted like tap water to me, and the peach scone was not very peachy. Also the blueberry muffin was very cakey. Hot chocolate was also watery.
All we seemed to get were explanations about why this restaurant couldn't seem to offer similar service to most other restaurants.
